The “Furry Un-Con” on an Actual Aircraft Carrier.
Galactic Camp® is a one-of-a-kind furry festival that takes place on the USS Hornet Air, Sea & Space Museum - an aircraft carrier docked right on the San Francisco Bay.
This event spans 3 days with multiple music stages (live bands, DJs, entertainment), including 2 nights of incredible dances, 4 furry-run theme bars serving reasonably priced cocktails, beer, cider, and non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, and such.
Daytime you can expect to see educational panels and programming, history tours of the ship, including the engineering behind an aircraft carrier, the weapons, flight deck, engine room, and more!
Lastly, we have a Dealer’s Den packed full of furry shopping, Food Trucks, a German Beer Garden, scavenger hunt, board game rooms, and video gaming. Oh, and don’t forget Fursuit games, a dance competition, and even a furry run coffee shop!
The “Furry Un-Con”
An unusual convention for unusual creatures!
✔ No Elevator Con (our venue’s elevator is only used for bombs in WWII; think gangplanks and ladders!)
✔ One Inclusive Party (no invite-only room parties; one ship 3 days)
✔ Sensory Room with beds to rest and decompress + FLARE
✔ Furry Hard Mode our 1940’s ship features tight passageways, hundreds of tripping hazards, including low ceilings, ladders, hatch doors, airlocks, or stick to the main deck to avoid the chaos.
✔ Guaranteed to Get Lost getting to the panel rooms won’t necessarily be easy! Once you go below deck, there are many unique rooms and passageways to explore, like the bakery, post office, operating room theatres, isolation ward, war rooms, briefing rooms, a chapel, officer’s ward room, and more! Or head up to the flight deck and control towers. You are almost certain to get lost.
✔ Bad Cell Coverage. Most of the ship acts as a giant Faraday Cage. Good luck checking Twitter below deck from the isolation ward! So imagine a con where everyone is a little more present instead of just staring at their smartphones and checking Telegram. OwO
✔ No Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt - unlike most furry conventions, we are not at one of the big 3 hotel chains or a corporate convention center. Instead, our venue is a National Monument and a piece of history. All funds the con makes get donated to the 501c3 museum too! Trust us - you will not miss that free waffle hotel breakfast.
✔ Smell that Bunker Oil. Old steam systems, lubricating oils, and metal. The second you step aboard, you will feel with all your senses that this is not your typical furry convention.

Galactic Camp® is officially back! We are expanding from a one day evening event to a full weekend all ages furry convention with two nights of dances and daytime programming. This time we will have the ENTIRE Aircraft Carrier, and nearby partner with hotels.
Our History + What to Expect in 2025
Galactic Camp® started out in 2018 as a one-night furry party at Faction Brewing in Alameda, before growing to a 1000-person event on an aircraft carrier in 2019. We then paused events over the pandemic, and are now working to bring them back with a full 3 day “furry un-con”. All the stuff from a furry convention - panels, dance comp, dealer’s den, dances, and more, except without the elevators, boring convention centers, and the same old format. Our event is on an actual aircraft carrier, and all proceeds support the USS Hornet Museum a 501(c)3.

Furries are a subculture of people who are interested in anthropomorphic animals, which are animals with human-like characteristics. Members of the furry fandom may create and wear costumes (known as fursuits) of their fursonas (their animal persona), attend furry conventions and events, and participate in online communities. The fandom is primarily focused on art, literature, and role-playing games centered around these anthropomorphic characters.

No! While many of our attendees are furry the community is welcoming of all. Burners (those who attend the Burning Man Arts Festival) are also highly present at Galactic Camp® with our last event featuring art cars and burner art projects. This year we plan to partner with other burning man camps to bring more art and entertainment and create a unique inclusive magical convention.

Yes! While our previous event in 2018 and 2019 were 21+ this year now that we have expanded to a 3 day event we will be open to all ages. The evening dances (after 7pm) where we open the bars at the convention will likely be limited to 21+ but there will be plenty of family friendly activities during the daytime.
